Last week, IDM - Lesotho facilitated a five (5) day short course training in Contract Management for the Ministry of Natural Resources Lesotho, aimed at enhancing practical skills in contract planning, administration, compliance, and risk management. The programme provided participants with hands-on tools and best practices to improve contract performance, accountability, and value for money in the public sector. Attendees were provided with skills related to proper procurement planning, contract management and continuous monitoring of contracts to ensure project success. A day filled with jubilation and excitement that did not only celebrate academic excellence but that honours the regionality of nations and dynamic cultures. The graduation ceremonyโs theme was: ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ that reiterated the cemented regional connection shared by the three countries since its inception by the fore fathers King Moshoeshoe II, Hon Ian Seretse Khama and King Sobhuza II in 1974. Over 1,000 graduates across the three (3) countries were conferred with qualifications ranging from Certificate up to masterโs Level in their colourful academic regalia. The event was graced by the presence of Ministers across the three Countries, Honourable Ntoi Rapapa, Ministry of Education and Training (Lesotho), Honourable Mabulala Maseko, Minister of Public Service (Eswatini), Honourable Owen Nxumalo, Ministry of Education and Training (Eswatini), Honourable Moeti C. Mohwasa, Minister of State President (Botswana). Moreover, the Interim Petroleum Fund CEO Adv. Thato Makananelo Kome served as the eventโs guest speaker. This past week, IDM concluded a 5 day short course in Occupational Health and Safety. This course offers an overview of potential and existing health and safety hazards that could undermine the productivity targets of the enterprise. The increasing awareness of the employeesโ rights to health and safety at work and the need for organizations to comply with International Standards and the Lesotho Labour Code has intensified the importance of sound occupational health and safety practices. In line with the relevant national laws and international conventions, the purpose of this course is to equip participants with the necessary skills to identify hazards, assess the significance of hazards, and implement prescribed control strategies and to protect the workforce from adverse health and safety conditions generated from the workplace environment.
