About This Course
Councillors must be well capacitated if they are to exercise effective oversight and stewardship roles. They need to be fully conversant with all issues relating to systems of government as well as on modern best practices so that they can effectively represent and communicate the needs of their electorates. Individually, each councillor must be able to table fact-based motions that win him/her the support, favour and respect of his/her peers in council fora. As a collective they must assertively speak for and win the attention of central government and other stakeholders for the improvement of lives of their constituents. In short, Councillors must play a key role in delivering the aspirations of vision 2036.
