IDM - Lesotho through the Business and Information Resource Management (BIRM) discipline recently completed a 5 day short course training on Risk Management for Ministry of Natural Resources Lesotho staff members. Enterprise Risk Management helps identify and analyse potential issues that could arise during a project or process. Enterprise Risk analysis is used to reduce the impact of a negative event, evaluate whether there are more benefits to a project than risks before initiation, plan the companyโs response to emergencies or other adverse events and eliminate risks to the enterprise during a process. Enterprise Risk analysis is designed to extract, sustain and maintain maximum protection for the preservation and retention of the institution. It allows you to identify the potential benefits and risks of each option, evaluate the likelihood of risks occurring and decide whether to move forward. Once you have identified potential risks, you can determine how to best manage them. Enterprise Risk analysis can help the organization improve the decision-making process in terms of assessing the impact of strategic risk. The organization can then identify risks that could arise during a project and offer alternatives. This helps develop a comprehensive preventative risk management plan for the enterprise. Today, IDM - Lesotho through the Student Welfare Office hosted a human trafficking awareness session aimed to educate and empower Student Union (SU) about the realities of human trafficking and how they can work together to prevent it. Last week Friday, IDM Lesotho participated in the wellness and fitness extravaganza organised by the Lesotho Football Association(LeFA) and Lesotho Defense Force (LDF). Recently, IDM conducted a short course training on Interviewing Skills for Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police Commissioners. The Course highlighted the need to strengthen capacity for Human Resources (HR) practitioners, managers, supervisors, and selection panel members to conduct structured, fair, and competency-based interviews. The course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to plan, conduct, assess, and document interviews in a professional and defensible manner, in line with labour legislation, organisational policies, and principles of equity and transparency. As we may know, poorly conducted interviews often lead to unsuitable appointments, high staff turnover, poor performance, workplace conflict, and legal or reputational risks arising from unfair or biased selection decisions. The four (4)-day programme adopts a highly practical and experiential approach, enabling participants to develop interview questions aligned to job requirements, apply effective questioning and listening techniques, minimize bias, and make evidence-based selection decisions. Emphasis is placed on legal and ethical considerations, panel dynamics, scoring methodologies, and post-interview processes such as reference and background checks. Last week, IDM - Lesotho facilitated a five (5) day short course training in Contract Management for the Ministry of Natural Resources Lesotho, aimed at enhancing practical skills in contract planning, administration, compliance, and risk management.
